"Public speaking in an empty room"

In this age of responsible social distancing, most of us are only meeting clients and colleagues virtually.  Presenting effectively via Zoom or other video conferencing applications requires a new set of skills and considerations.  My LinkedIn article provides advice on how to present online in ways that will impress, engage and include your audiences.

Appreciative Inquiry Facilitation

My newest client works to improve the lives of people living with physical disabilities by developing technological solutions for the home.  This group needed help with their strategic and brand planning.  I developed and facilitated a SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations and Results) session to help the group focus their strategic priorities for the coming five years.

Strategic Planning and Facilitation

Executive Directors from across British Columbia gathered in Whistler, BC to talk about advocating for better inclusion and diversity in our communities.  I facilitated a four-hour S.O.A.R. session designed to inform the strategic planning process.  This was the first of many stakeholder sessions planned for the next several weeks as we build out the plan.

Strategic Planning and Facilitation

When a leading community living organization needed help planning their strategic direction for the next five years, we came on board to interview dozens of stakeholders, facilitate planning sessions (including the annual Board retreat) and develop a strategic plan and set of actions to guide the organization in its critical work of helping empower individuals with developmental disabilities.

Public Speaking and Storytelling Training

When one of Western Canada's largest manufacturers needed public speaking training for its sales and marketing team, I designed a two-day session on public speaking delivery, audience engagement and brand storytelling.  Participants were given plenty of opportunities to present, receive feedback (both in a group setting and individually) and video-taped to demonstrate growth over the two days.

Federal Fireside Chat

In November 2018, I was asked by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce to moderate a fireside chat with Parliamentary Secretary (PM) Marco Mendicino.  PM Mendicino was in Vancouver, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, to announce a multi-million dollar investment in a British Columbia Digital Technology Supercluster.  During our moderated discussion, we talked about diversity, inclusion and gender parity in the workplace before an audience of government, business and education stakeholders.

Social Innovation Summit 2018

In 2018, the City of Surrey hosted the its fourth annual Social Innovation Summit.  Over a thousand business and community leaders gathered to discuss solutions to some of society's most pressing social issues.  I was invited to moderate a panel of senior business leaders for a lively discussion on social impact.
